Ben's Cello Blog

Ben Wyatt: Blacksburg, Virginia, United States; I am a cellist and teacher living in Blacksburg, Virginia. I play mostly chamber music on both modern and Baroque cello, and teach through the Suzuki method. I have been incredibly fortunate to have studied with some of the best teachers, and try to follow their example as I work each day. My principal teachers were Robert Jesselson prior to college, Stephen Geber at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Ronald Leonard at the University of Southern California. I graduated with my DMA from USC as the Outstanding Doctoral Graduate and continued to work in the Los Angeles area for a couple years before moving to New York with my wife to support her professional development. While there I got involved with the Suzuki method through the teacher training course taught by Pam Devenport at the School for Strings. Since the fall of 2007 I have been teaching in Blacksburg at a wonderful community music school called the Renaissance Music Academy and playing chamber music with wonderful colleagues here and there.
