Tonalization: More Long Note Challenges

This variation focuses on the challenge of a quick transition between extremes.
The exercise it to play quick repeated notes at the frog (think sixteenths) for some time, then immediately to play the longest note in the world. The faster, louder and more bow you use on the sixteenths, the harder, and the slower the bow on the longest note, the harder. Focus especially on the very beginning of the long note, trying to avoid any accent, and to have the sound be even from the beginning. Play enough beats of sixteenths to 'settle in' to them, thinking of at least 10 beats (or more), but then think ahead to the feeling of the long note before making the transition. This imagining of the next thing is an important skill of its own, and this exercise is good for developing it.
